Where do your mission photos go when the account closes?

Nobody plans to lose their mission. It happens quietly, months later, in a moment that never feels like a decision at all.

Many missionaries use accounts they did not choose and may not keep — mission email, shared services, or credentials intended for the period of service. When access changes after a missionary comes home, photos and messages can be lost if no one has made a separate copy. The picture from the baptism at the river. The last message from a companion who became a brother. Gone — not because anyone chose to delete them, but because nobody chose to keep them somewhere else in time.

It isn’t anyone’s fault. Nobody hands a missionary a checklist for their own memory on the way out the door. There’s a flight to catch, a family to hug, an ordinary life to step back into. The account just closes, the way accounts do.

The first UNA release is an iPhone app centered on Today and Sacred. Mission is a future preview, not yet a family record, import, or archive. For now, use a storage place you already control and make a separate copy before access changes. The important thing is to move every photo, letter, and update somewhere that is not tied to a temporary account.

That is the direction I hope UNA can serve later. A mission changes lives while it is served, and its stories keep changing lives after — at family nights, for the little sister opening her own call someday, for the grandchildren who will ask what it was like.
