If you love FamilySearch Memories, keep loving it. UNA’s first release does not connect to FamilySearch, import from it, or upload to it. This page simply explains the boundary while future family features remain previews.
What FamilySearch Memories is for
FamilySearch Memories is the home for the family’s shared history — photos, stories, documents, and short recorded clips (up to five minutes each) attached to the Family Tree, kept by FamilySearch and built to be found. Memories of those who have passed are public by default and findable — through the tree, through search, even through Google — and they remain on FamilySearch after the contributor dies. That is exactly right for what it is: the family’s museum, open to everyone the story belongs to. Your great-grandmother’s wedding photo belongs there. Put it there — truly.
What UNA is for
In the first release, UNA is for:
- Your daily record — what’s on your heart on an ordinary Tuesday
- The Sacred Vault — never sent to UNA’s servers, with an optional sealed backup in your own iCloud Drive
- Personal reflections — formed from Today entries when you choose and are eligible
Together interviews, family spaces, Mission records, and direct FamilySearch work remain future ideas. UNA will not describe them as available until they ship.
They meet in the middle
Today entries can be downloaded from UNA when you need a portable copy. Sacred content remains under your control and is never uploaded to FamilySearch by UNA.
